The draws have been made and the postseason is right around the corner for the Putnam County high school football teams.
In Class A, it was a mixed bag for both South Putnam and Cloverdale when it comes to their respective sectional draws.
In Sectional 45, the South Putnam Eagles (6-2) will open the postseason at home against Fountain Central. The Mustangs bring a 3-5 record into this week's regular season finale against Parke Heritage. After opening the season 0-3, Fountain Central won three straight before dropping the last two games.
In the bottom half of the bracket, Parke Heritage will play Riverton Parke, while North Vermillion will take on North Central (Farmersburg).
As for the Clovers, Cloverdale will open the Sectional 46 tournament with a bye. Cloverdale (4-3) will take on the winner of Tri-Central and Indianapolis Tindley. Tri-Central is 1-7 and on a six game skid ahead of this week's regular season finale, while Indianapolis Tindley is 3-4. In the bottom half of the bracket, Sheridan plays Clinton Central and Clinton Prairie plays Irvington.
"With that sectional, we have a lot of far games," Cloverdale coach Tyler Lotz told GIANT fm WREB.
In Class 2A, North Putnam (7-1) gets a huge test right out of the gate in the Section 34 opener, hosting Western Boone (7-1). The Stars just suffered their first loss of the year last week against Danville.
Western Boone and North Putnam have three common opponents in Southmont, North Montgomery and Crawfordsville.
The Cougars defeated Crawfordsville, 57-21, while the Stars won 41-0. Against North Montgomery, North Putnam won 52-20, while Western Boone won 56-14. And, against Southmont, the Stars won 36-6, while the Cougars won 32-27.
The winner will play the winner of Lafayette Central Catholic and Delphi. The bottom half of the bracket features North Montgomery at Southmont and Seeger at Lewis Cass.
The Greencastle Tiger Cubs (2-6) will open Sectional 39 on the road at Pike Central, who will bring a 3-5 record into Friday's road clash against North Posey.
The winner will play the winner of Mitchell vs. Brown County.
Greencastle football coach David Stephens told GIANT fm WREB the travel doesn't bother him.
"We have a great bus for travel. I want to get a far travel game each year moving forward so we are ready once the tournament rolls around," Stephens said.
In the bottom half of the bracket, South Vermillion will host North Posey, while Linton-Stockton will welcome Sullivan.
