Greencastle ready to tangle with Cascade

While tonight's GIANT fm WREB Game of the Week may feature two teams with vastly different records, Greencastle football coach Dave Stephens believes his Tiger Cubs are ready for the Cascade Cadets.

"It is another undefeated team, another top 10 team and we are ready for the challenge. We are looking forward for a great opportunity to compete against a local, up and rising powerhouse and future conference opponent in Cascade," Stephens told GIANT fm.

The Tiger Cubs have dropped two in a row and come in at 2-5, while Cascade is 7-0 on the season. The Cadets have been averaging 41.9 points per game and have surrendered only 11.6 points per game.

"Cascade and Coach Simmons do a great job down there. We were never going to overlook them. We had them circled and we've taken a special interest in them as they are a future conference opponent. Even if they are rated higher, we feel confident we have a team that can go out there and compete. We look forward to giving our best effort," Stephens said.

The second year head coach said Cascade does a good job of putting opposing defenses in a bind.

"They put you in a bind because you want enough guys at the line of scrimmage to stop the run. How can you manipulate your defense to stop the run and not give up the pass deep? We will try to figure out how to move the ball and stop that offense. I think Coach Simmons is telling his guys don't be fooled by the record and Greencastle is a good team," Stephens said.

One thing Stephens is looking for is a complete game from the Tiger Cubs.

"I think we are getting closer and closer. The things people don't see on the field that we see is some of our guys are getting healthy. We have some guys who are getting better and healthy. For this time of the year, when other teams are getting banged up, I feel like the Tiger Cubs are getting healthier. We have built depth throughout the season with guys who have had to step up. Hopefully, we can make enough plays and shock the state," Stephens said.
