IHSAA announces sectional host sites for five fall sports

The recap of the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Executive Committee meeting has been released. In the report, the sectional host sites for fall sports cross country, girls golf, soccer, boys tennis and girls volleyball were named.

Volleyball

Shelbyville has dropped to Class 3A in girls volleyball and will compete in the seven-team sectional at Roncalli High School. Sectional 28 also features Beech Grove, Greenwood, Indian Creek, New Palestine and Rushville along with the Golden Bears and Royals.

Triton Central volleyball will travel to Indianapolis Scecina for a six-team sectional with Christel House, Eastern Hancock, Heritage Christian and Irvington Prep.

Shelby County’s trio of Class A volleyball programs will travel to North Decatur for an eight-team sectional. The field includes Edinburgh, Knightstown, Morristown, North Decatur, South Decatur, Southwestern, Tri and Waldron.

The regional round host sites for teams in the South are Greenfield-Central, Cascade, Monrovia, Bloomington North, Loogootee, Mitchell, Edinburgh and Charlestown. South semistate sites are Martinsville, Bedford North Lawrence, Jasper and Columbus East.

The state championship matches will again be played at Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie.

Boys Soccer

Shelbyville is one of seven teams in Class 3A, Sectional 13 hosted by Center Grove. The field also includes Columbus East, Columbus North, East Central, Franklin and Whiteland along with the Golden Bears and Trojans.

Triton Central’s new boys soccer program will compete at the Class 2A Rushville Sectional with Centerville, Connersville, Greensburg and New Castle.

Southwestern will host a Class A sectional with five opponents – Austin, Hauser, Shawe Memorial, Southwestern (Hanover) and Trinity Lutheran.

Morristown was assigned to the Class A Indianapolis Lutheran Sectional along with Central Christian Academy, Christel House, Greenwood Christian Academy, Knightstown and Providence Cristo Rey.

Girls Soccer

Shelbyville’s girls soccer program is part of Class 3A, Sectional 12 hosted by New Palestine. The five-team sectional also features East Central, Greenfield-Central and Richmond.

Monrovia is the host site for Class A, Sectional 43 which includes Triton Central, Brown County, Greenwood Christian Academy and Hauser.

Cross Country

Four of Shelby County’s five cross country programs will not have to leave the county in the postseason until the state championship meet.

The cross country venue at Shelbyville’s Blue River Memorial Park is a sectional and regional host site in 2024.

The Shelbyville Sectional will feature the host Golden Bears, Southwestern, Triton Central and Waldron along with Center Grove, Decatur Central, Edinburgh, Franklin, Greenwood Christian Academy, Greenwood, Indian Creek, Mooresville, Perry Meridian, Roncalli, Southport and Whiteland.

Morristown heads north to the Mt. Vernon Sectional to compete against 14 other cross country programs.

The sectional qualifiers from sectionals at Noblesville, Mt. Vernon, Connersville, Shelbyville and Southwestern (Hanover) will compete in the Shelbyville Regional.

The LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute is the site of the state championship meet.

Girls Golf

Golfers representing Shelbyville and Southwestern will compete in the Greensburg Sectional. The 11-team field also includes Batesville, East Central, Franklin County, Jac-Cen-Del, Milan, North Decatur, Oldenburg Academy and South Ripley.

Morristown and Triton Central golf programs will compete in the New Palestine Sectional with Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central, Knightstown, Mt. Vernon, Rushville, Shenandoah and Tri.

Regional hosts schools are Lake Central, East Noble, Lafayette Jefferson, Lapel, Washington and Franklin.

Boys Tennis

The Shelbyville Sectional will again include only Shelby County programs.

The Golden Bears will host Morristown, Southwestern, Triton Central and Waldron with the sectional champion advancing to the Center Grove Regional.
