Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame ready to unveil new expansion project

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame opened its museum in 1990 in New Castle, Indiana.

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame has announced the date for the grand re-opening of its new 6,600-square-foot expansion.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, the Hall of Fame will unveil the new expansion project that began in October. The project was made possible by the Henry County Economic Development Corporation, the Henry County Commissioners, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors, and the generous support of all those who have contributed to the “Past & Present, Forever” capital campaign.

The new museum expansion will include:

  • New Archive Room
  • Expanded Enshrinement Gallery
  • History of Women’s Basketball in Indiana/Title IX Exhibit
  • New Jump Interactive
  • New Officials “You Make the Call”
  • Game day interactive where the guest is immersed in the IHSAA State Finals
  • Nine new exhibit cases to display more artifacts from the Hall of Fame’s collection
  • Revamped “Make Your Last Shot”
  • Rebranded “Are You An Analyst”
  • “Dunk” Photo Opportunity
  • Trivia Game with Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame artifacts
  • “Deeper Look” touch screens for even more information on artifacts
  • New office space

There also will be a special announcement Thursday from Henry Community Health (HCH) to further the partnership between HCH and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame was established in 1962 and opened the museum in New Castle in 1990. The organization’s mission is to honor, preserve and promote the heritage of Indiana’s high school basketball.
