The brackets are filled out and for three Putnam County teams and Parke Heritage, the chase for a Class 2A Sectional 41 title will begin in earnest on Feb. 4 at Greencastle High School.
Parke Heritage (17-4) will open action against South Vermillion (0-22) at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4. The two teams have already played this season with the Wolves picking up a pair of wins over South Vermillion. In the first game, Parke Heritage won 69-7 and then earned a 90-16 win earlier this month.
The winner of the South Vermillion versus Parke Heritage game will play South Putnam (11-10) in the first semifinal on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
South Putnam lost to Parke Heritage, 66-30, and defeated South Vermillion, 50-7 in the season opener.
The other first round game pits North Putnam (12-9) against Southmont (8-10) on Feb. 4.
The Cougars knocked off Southmont, 66-41, earlier this season.
The winner of that game will take on Greencastle (7-15) in the second semifinal on Feb. 7.
Southmont defeated the Tiger Cubs 57-26 in the season opener, while North Putnam owns a 59-56 overtime win over the Tiger Cubs.
The championship game is slated for Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
Cloverdale ready for Class A, Sectional 61 chase
Having posted its most wins since the 2021-22 season, the Cloverdale Clovers will look to make noise and capture the Class A, Sectional 61 championship at Clay City.
The Clovers (5-16) opened the season 0-10, but have improved as the season has progressed and will take on Dugger Union (5-12) in the second game of the opening night of the tournament on Feb. 4.
The winner will take on Lighthouse Christian Academy (0-17) and White River Valley (15-4) on Feb. 6 in the first semi-final at 6 p.m.
White River Valley defeated Cloverdale, 48-22, in November.
The other two first round games of the sectional features Bloomfield (3-16) taking on North Central (Farmersburg) (19-3) and Shakamak (12-9) taking on Clay City (5-15).
