While the current weather conditions may look like anything but football weather, North Putnam quarterback Christian Kramer has been hard at work during the offseason preparing for the 2025 campaign.
A season ago, Kramer was one of the state's best when it came to total yardage, as the signal caller accounted for 3,632 total yards of offense, threw for 1,932 yards and 39 total touchdowns. He helped guide the Cougars to a 5-0 start en route to a 7-3 finish last year, which ended with a 56-27 loss to Western Boone in the sectional opener.
When he looks back on last season, Kramer said he looks back fondly and sees how hard he played. In addition, he said the way he played is satisfying to him.
"The fact that I knew that every time I stepped on the field, I did whatever I could to win," Kramer told The Putnam County Post.
After drawing attention from several schools and making a few visits, Kramer notes his biggest goal this offseason is to pick up an offer.
"I know I have what it takes to play at the next level, I just need a chance. I am focusing on every part of my game in order to prepare myself for my senior campaign. I am looking to play the best I ever have," he said.
When the season kicks off in August, Kramer is optimistic the Cougars can contend and make a deep run in the postseason. However, the veteran quarterback notes it will take a total team effort with everyone on the same page.
"I would say everyone needs to have like minded goals. Not everyone on our team has the same drive, and our team can only go as far as the weakest link takes us. I would also say we need to just be accountable. Whether that be in learning individual roles or in taking responsibility for what each and every person on our team has to do for us to win," Kramer said.
