The standout tight end recently announced his commitment to Trine University.

After a successful football career at North Putnam High School, Paxton O'Brien has found a home on the college ranks.

The standout tight end recently announced his commitment to Trine University.

"It feels great. The thing that set Trine apart was really just that it felt like home, and was the place I really wanted to be a part of the community and culture. It's a great place with great people," O'Brien told The Putnam County Post.

After a great career with the Cougars, O'Brien said he is leaving with plenty of memories.

"There's a lot of things that really stand out. My great coaches like Dan Fouts, my teammates and some great games. One of my favorite games was South Montgomery in week two of this season. We were down by 14 going into the fourth quarter, and then we came back to win with a minute left in the game," O'Brien said.

The North Putnam senior said Trine recruited him to play tight end, and he is looking forward to the challenge that comes with playing at the next level.

"I feel good making that jump to college. I know there's going to be a learning curve, for sure, though, as the game is going to be moving a lot faster," he said.

But, O'Brien knows he is making the trip north with quite a support staff.

"I can't thank the people that helped me and stuck by me enough. I, especially, want to thank my family and friends who have supported me and gone through everything with me. I can't wait for the next four years. Go Thunder," O'Brien said.
