The state's sixth-ranked 1A football team will come home to play for a regional championship following a dominating performance in the Sectional 45 championship.

South Putnam (10-2) scored 16 points in each of the first and second quarters to establish a 32-0 halftime lead in Friday's win at Riverton Parke, 44-6.

It was the Eagles first sectional title since 2020 and 13th in program history.

Riverton Parke (8-4) was trying for the program's second sectional title. The other came in 2005.

The Panthers were unable to get on the board until a touchdown run midway through the final period.

South Putnam will host Sheridan (7-5) in next week's 1A regional championship. The Blackhawks (7-5) defeated Cloverdale in the Sectional 46 championship, 42-14.
