For the South Putnam football team, Harris is the anchor of both the offensive and defensive lines.

At 6-foot-3-inches and 265 pounds, Parker Harris already has the look of a college lineman.

For the South Putnam football team, Harris is the anchor of both the offensive and defensive lines, as he earned Class A All-State honors and looks to lift the Eagles to a win Friday against rival North Putnam.

It has been that way for Harris, who played two junior varsity games as a freshman before being called up and has stayed ever since.

"I am very excited about my senior year, especially after earning all-state honors last season," Harris said.

During his high school career, Harris has seen a complete transformation of his body, as he was a 5-foot-10-inch, 180 pound freshman.

"I have improved a lot, and I am a lot more athletic. I have also changed positions on the offensive line multiple times, and this year, I am a two year starter," Harris said.

While he may not generate the headlines like some of his teammates, who play skill positions, Harris admits he loves being in the trenches.

"I love being a lineman. We may not get all the praise for doing our jobs, but I love getting my hands dirty and moving another man against his will. I love the nastiness of being a lineman. We are the biggest and strongest on the field at times and we make it known," Harris said.

Colleges are starting to notice, as Parker currently holds offers from Wabash and Mount St. Joseph.

"It feels amazing knowing that people see the results from all the hard work I have put in over the years," Harris said.
