February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month and Blue River Career Programs will be spotlighting its programs and a student from each program Monday through Friday in the Shelby County Post during the month of February.
Today's CTE spotlight is Culinary Arts program student Liam Montgomery. He is a senior at Shelbyville High School and a Capstone student at Blue River Career Programs.
Montgomery works non-stop at a local health and rehabilitation center called Especially Kids. His other passion is art, and he is inspired by a story created from a “Chef Rat” named Tweek.
When asked why he chose CTE at Blue River Career Programs, Montgomery responded because he likes to cook and has started to see it as a career path since it is something he enjoys.
Already gaining experience in food service operation, he is a dietary aide, making drinks and helping plate food at mealtime. In addition, he washes dishes, takes out trash and wipes down counters.
The Shelby County Post is a digital newspaper producing news, sports, obituaries and more without a pay wall or subscription needed.
