CTE Spotlight: Education Professions student Shane Lawhon

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month and Blue River Career Programs will be spotlighting its programs and a student from each program Monday through Friday in the Shelby County Post during the month of February.

Today’s spotlight is on Education Professions student Shane Lawhon.

The Morristown High School senior has a tremendous passion for teaching, particularly in the field of science. Inspired by several educators within his family, Lawhon has set his sights on becoming a high school science teacher.

Currently, Lawhon serves as a Cadet Teacher in the Science department at Shelbyville Middle School, working alongside veteran educator Scott Hughes.

“He’s a total rock star,” said Hughes.

Lawhon’s experiences have been nothing short of inspiring. He has shared numerous stories about stepping in to assist the substitute teacher during Hughes’ absence, as well as the various teaching strategies he has acquired in the classroom. His dedication and enthusiasm for education are sure to make a significant impact in the lives on his future students.
