Envision the 1920s with library's fashion show

A 1920s fashion shows off pinstripe suits, silk shirts, and the just-right tie for men, with women opting for fun dresses with flirty fringe in flapper dresses and tassel dresses or sophisticated looks like the sheath dress or sequin dress.

Of course, the right outfit will be accessorized so that it will catch the eye, such as headbands, long gloves, brooches, earrings and even feathers. Men could complete their drip with a neutral-shade fedora, colorful pocket squares and snazzy cufflinks.

Staff and friends of the Shelby County Public Library will model the best of ‘20s looks Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the Shelbyville Main Branch, 57 W. Broadway in Shelbyville. Women’s and men’s trends will be highlighted while Donna Dennison, head of the Genealogy and History Department, narrates the pageant.

For those who prefer to spend time in nature, Amanda White, head of the Adult Services Department, leads a walk in Meltzer Woods at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Experience a nature adventure in one of Indiana’s remaining old growth forests.

All ages are welcome to join the easy 1.2-mile hike. Hikers should bring their own water and wear appropriate footwear. The woods are located at 1544 S. 600 East, Shelbyville. Parking is across the road from the trailhead.

Upcycle thrift store paintings Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Velma Wortman Morristown Branch, 127 E. Main Street in Morristown. Dragons are the focus for upcycling, which is taking old paintings found in thrift stores, such as Goodwill, and then adding paint or stickers to make a personal masterpiece.
