Second Baptist Church to host 108th Annual Southeastern District Association of the Indiana Missionary Baptist State Convention

Second Baptist Church, 34 West Hendricks Street, Shelbyville, will
host Indiana Missionary Baptist Churches from the Southeastern District of
Indiana, June 3 - 7.

The Convention will kick off with a “Host Church Welcome Service” on Monday, June 3, at 6:30p.m., at the Strand Theatre, in downtown Shelbyville. Pastor Tony Lambert will initiate the Call to Worship, with James Garrett III serving as Master of Ceremony.
Second Baptist Church will welcome Mayor Scott Furgeson, Chief of Police, Dr.
Bill Dwenger and Strand Director, David Finkel to share comments with the
convention attendees from numerous Baptist Churches across Southeastern
Indiana. The Convention anticipates 125 to 150 participants, including pastors,
deacons, officers and youth, for a celebratory week to address challenges
confronting churches and communities.

The Convention will seek to be transformational for the attendees and individuals in the community.
Second Baptist Church will acknowledge long time Southeastern District
Moderator Pastor Anthony B. Toran, as this will be his final term as Moderator.
Moderator's night will be Thursday June 6 and the Reverend Elzie E. Lawler
Mission Memorial Banquet will be Wednesday night at the Shelbyville Middle
School Cafetorium. Throughout the week attendees will share strategies and best
practices relating to Sunday School, Brotherhood, Missionary, Music ministries
and other outreach ministries within the Church.
Second Baptist Church is excited to host this 108th Annual Session Convention.
The Church motto for 2024 is “Serve JESUS more in 2024” and the convention is
just one way we are serving, Second Baptist Church, the community and the
state.
