A nearly year-long investigation into a drug overdose has resulted in an arrest.

The New Palestine Police Department responded to the 4500 block of South 500 West in New Palestine on October 19, 2023, for a welfare check. The female caller left the scene but did tell police that a medical emergency was taking place at the residence.

Officers arrived to find Jerry Moore II unresponsive and without a pulse. Despite life saving measures by officers and medical personnel Moore was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy revealed Moore died from a drug overdose.

Following the investigation with social media records and cell phone data being obtained, an arrest warrant was issued for the caller, Stephanie Schofield. Schofield was charged with a Level 1 felony, dealing a controlled substance resulting in death, obstruction of justice (Level 6) and a misdemeanor charge of false informing.
