Asbury Cemetery site of upcoming walking tour

Asbury Cemetery ,10751 N. Asbury Road, is located in Hanover Township and is the second largest cemetery Shelby County.

The Morristown branch of the Shelby County Public Library presents a spirited historical walking tour of Asbury Cemetery on October 8 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Those who take part can visit the graves of some of the numerous interesting people buried in the cemetery’s oldest section. Donna Dennison, Head of the SCPL Genealogy & History Department, will lead the tour.

Visitors should dress appropriately for the weather and walking terrain.

Asbury Cemetery ,10751 N. Asbury Road, is located in Hanover Township and is the second largest cemetery Shelby County. It is connected to Asbury Chapel, which was erected in 1839 at a cost of $400. Of the more than 2,000 people who are buried in the cemetery, many are soldiers who died in the War of 1812, through both World Wars, and the Vietnam War.
