A free lunch provided by the City of Shelbyville, Shelby Senior Services’ Strawberry Festival and the Taste of Shelby County offer several family-friendly options to enjoy Friday in downtown Shelbyville.
Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson will celebrate Government Day by helping provide a free meal while supplies last. Fresh grilled hot dogs, chips and a drink will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This annual event will take place on East Washington St. in the Public Square.
After lunch, downtown visitors can purchase strawberry shortcake and ice cream for $8 at the 37th Annual Shelby Senior Services’ Strawberry Festival (main photo).
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Public Square. There will be a drive-thru and walk-up option of the strawberry festival at Major Health Partners, 2451 Intelliplex Drive.

The 10th Annual Taste of Shelby County follows in downtown Shelbyville from 6 to 10 p.m.
The Shelby County Tourism & Visitor’s Bureau is hosting food, libations, music and art Friday night.
In addition, the second annual Darrin Glessner Car/Truck and Bike Show will be part of the Taste of Shelby County event.
There is no admission fee to attend this community event. Food and drink purchases will be handled by individual vendors.
