MHP's Jack Horner joins his father as a Sagamore of the Wabash

Major Health Partners (MHP) Jack Horner, CEO, was presented with the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award Friday.

MHP was celebrating its 100th anniversary during the Taste of Shelby County event hosted by Shelby Couny Tourism. The presentation took place on the stage near the Major Health Partners VIP tent in downtown Shelbyville.

This honor is a testament to Horner’s unparalleled dedication, visionary leadership, and transformative contributions to healthcare in Shelby County and beyond.

For over three decades, Jack Horner has been a beacon of excellence at MHP. Under his stewardship, MHP has experienced unprecedented growth and innovation, emerging as a national leader in healthcare delivery.

“His visionary leadership has propelled MHP to new heights, ensuring quality care while navigating complex challenges with unwavering determination,” Ryan Claxton, MHP President, said.

One of Horner’s most significant achievements was the flawless execution of MHP’s 10-year strategic plan, culminating in the construction of a state-of-the-art $100-plus million MHP Medical Center. This landmark achievement, coupled with the expansion of services, has revolutionized healthcare accessibility for the community, with annual patient visits exceeding 260,000.

Moreover, Horner’s commitment to innovation is exemplified by MHP’s successful transition to a new electronic medical record (EMR) system, a monumental undertaking that underscored his strategic decisions and managerial ability. “Consultants and industry experts universally hailed MHP’s EMR implementation as one of the most successful in their experience,” Claxton said, a testament to Horner’s leadership.

Claxton said, “Under Jack’s guidance, MHP has become a cornerstone of economic development, driving growth, and prosperity in Shelby County.”

Horner’s impact extends far beyond the walls of MHP. As a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a respected leader in various industry organizations, Horner’s influence is felt nationwide.
