Major Health Partners (MHP) is excited to announce that Linda Wessic, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, has been named the 2024 Award of Merit honoree by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA).

This distinguished award is given each year to an individual who has made significant contributions to healthcare in Indiana. Linda was presented with this honor at the IHA Annual Meeting awards ceremony held in Indianapolis.

With over four decades of service at MHP, Linda has played an essential role in shaping the growth and success of the organization. As a senior clinical executive for much of her tenure, Linda has led MHP through a period of tremendous expansion, including the construction of a new medical center in 2017, which she helped plan and oversee. Her leadership in this massive project helped bring a wide range of services under one roof, improving patient outcomes and keeping costs down.

“Linda’s dedication to our patients, staff, and community is unmatched,” said MHP President Ryan Claxton. “Her leadership has not only transformed MHP, but also elevated the entire healthcare system in Shelby County.”

Under Linda’s direction, MHP has consistently been ranked among the top 20% of hospitals nationwide in areas such as quality of care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. She has led key initiatives like the implementation of a new electronic medical record system and the hospital’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, where her calm, decisive leadership made a significant difference in protecting staff and patients.

Linda’s commitment extends beyond hospital operations. She introduced inpatient and outpatient dialysis services to the community, helped develop new maternal-child programs, expanded critical care, and improved hospital safety programs. Her work has touched many lives, helping MHP grow its services to meet the needs of the community.

Linda’s leadership style is rooted in empathy, professionalism, and a true servant’s heart. Known for her positive attitude and ability to inspire others, Linda is described as “a great boss, but an even better person.” Her leadership has not only helped MHP grow, but also ensured that it remains a supportive, caring place for patients and staff alike.

In addition to her hospital work, Linda is an active member of the Shelbyville community. She is involved in several local organizations, including the Shelby Senior Services, Major Hospital Foundation, Blue River Community Foundation, and the Shelby County United Fund. Her dedication to both healthcare and the community has made her a respected figure, not just at Major Hospital, but across the entire region.

"We are thrilled that Linda’s hard work and dedication have been recognized with this prestigious award,” said Claxton. “Her impact on MHP and the broader healthcare community is immeasurable. This recognition is well-deserved.”
