During the Waldron Freedom Fest in July, a creative giveaway took place involving a van.
The rules were simple. Competitors had to keep one hand on the van. The last individual remaining became the new owner.
Another giveaway is currently underway as the Waldron community is stepping up to help flood victims after the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
The grand prizes this time? Helping those in need and another van. Instead of standing for hours, this time a volunteer will ride south to deliver important items. When they return the van will be theirs to keep.
The 2008 Chevrolet Express 2500 is sitting at the corner of Race Street and Pearl Street in Waldron. Supplies can be dropped off at that location.
More non-perishable food items are needed before the van can depart. Baby wipes and formula, water, medical supplies, trash bags, batteries, flashlights, blankets, pet supplies and clothing for all ages are other items that can be donated.
Several individuals have already expressed their interest to volunteer and drive. A random draw will be used to select the winner.
