Alfred H. Reuter, 92, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Shelbyville.

He was born August 30, 1930, in Indianapolis, the son of Henry and Julia (Reckel) Reuter.  On February 6, 1960, he married his wife of 63 years, Margaret Sahm, and she survives.

In addition to Margaret, Alfred is survived by his sister, Roseann Schonfeld of Fairland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Suzanne Reuter; brothers, Francis Reuter, Rev. Leon Reuter, Charles Reuter, Robert Reuter and Harold Reuter; and sisters, Angela Miner, Eileen Blatz and Juliann Hoeing.

In 1948, he graduated from Shelbyville High School.

He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville.

Alfred was a U.S. Army veteran from 1953 to 1955, and served in Germany.

Alfred was a tool and die machinist and also a farmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 2 p.m., friends and family may gather from 1:45 p.m. until time of the rosary.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Repair Fund.
