Arthur Jack Bowman III, 71, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born December 4, 1951, in Indianapolis, the son of Arthur Jack II and Angeline (Lynch) Bowman. On July 7, 2007, he married Laurie Celmer, and she survives.
In addition to Laurie, Arthur is survived by his children, Nicole Bowman of Ellettsville, Sean Bowman and wife, Alyssa, of Bloomington, and Rebecca Parish of Franklin; brother, Doug Bowman and wife, Diane, of Carmel; sister, Terri Bowman Bertrand of Fishers; granddaughter, Michaela; and several nieces and nephews.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents.
In 1970, he graduated from Cathedral High School in Indiana. He attended Indiana University and Ball State University.
Arthur was a US Marine Corp veteran serving from 1971 to 1976, in Vietnam, as a communications specialist.
He retired in 2002, as the director of A-Net operations at Emery Worldwide, with 14 years of service.
Arthur was a member of the Knightstown American Legion Post No. 152, Son of the Legion Squadron Post No. 152 Knightstown, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Greenfield.
He also leaves behind his dog, Jethro Jr; and cats, Oreo and Itty Bitty Kitty.
Arthur enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching football, especially the Indianapolis Colts.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will follow at 1 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Scott officiating.
Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, with military graveside rites conducted the by Knightstown American Legion.
