Bernard "Hank" McGinsie, Jr. peacefully departed this world while surrounded by his family on September 19, 2023 at the age of 87.
Hank will be remembered by his devoted wife, Marilee McGinsie (Cornett), who stood by his side through life's journey for 67 years; his five sons, Mick (Jeff), Rick (Lisa), George (Chris), Chuck (Becky), and Jeff (Tina); his grandchildren Josh, Andy, Tyler, Jonathon, Cavan, Riley, Joel, Calista, Jackson, Jarrett, Reese, and Chuck. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard, Sr., and Mae, his half-brother Harold Sanslow, and his granddaughter Marilee.
A veteran of the American military, Hank served his country in the Air Force and was given the status of honorary Kentucky Colonel. Born in Lynch, Kentucky, Hank graduated from Lynch High School and remained a loyal Bulldog throughout his life. Hank's heart swelled with pride as he reminisced about Lynch's football successes. He enjoyed nothing more than holding court in a roomful of friends, family or anyone willing to listen to the memories of his growing up in Lynch and the success and the glory days of his Lynch Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats or any of his other favorite sports teams. He was also an honorary lifetime member of the Lynch Country Club. Hank moved his growing family to Indiana in 1962 where he worked for the Ford Motor Company from where he retired after 30 years of service.
We bid farewell to Hank, a man who made an indelible mark on the lives and memories of all who knew him. Legends Never Die.
In keeping with Hank's wishes no services will be held. Anyone wishing to make contributions in Hank's memory can direct them to The Lynch Country Club P.O. Box 720 Lynch, Ky, 40855.
