Claron Joy Cassidy, 93, of Shelbyville, died Friday, December 8 at Major Hospital. She was born November 11, 1930 in Union township, Shelby County, to Eston and Lucy (Kuhn) Robinson. Claron married Hugh Cassidy on April 16, 1950 and he preceded her in death January 16, 2016.
Survivors include two sons: Larry Cassidy and wife Patricia, of Shelbyville; Michael Cassidy and wife Peggy of Waldron; daughter-in-law, Elaine Cassidy of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Craig Cassidy, Rachel Zirkelbach, Lauren Zimmerman, and Olivia Cassidy; and step-grandchildren: Brian Garrett and Keith Garrett; great-grandchildren: Kaia Cassidy, Eleanor Zirkelbach, Evelyn Zirkelbach, and Stella Zimmerman; brother-in-law George Braden and sister-in-law Janet Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kent Cassidy; grandson, Seth Cassidy; brothers, Warren Robinson and Dwain Robinson; sisters, RoseMary Martin and Ruth Braden.
Mrs. Cassidy was a 1948 graduate of Manilla High School. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church. She also attended Wesley Chapel for many years. Mrs. Cassidy was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Shelby County.
Claron was a longtime member of the Lucky-15 Home Economics Club. She enjoyed gardening and was especially talented at raising many different flowers. She was also an excellent cook. Mrs. Cassidy enjoyed spending time with her husband and family.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, December 15, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the funeral home with pastor Kim DeKoker officiating.
Burial will be at Manilla Cemetery.
