David Edward Evans, 80, of St. Paul, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.
He was born April 29, 1943, in Canton, Starke County, Ohio, the son of Robert A. and Julia (Halter) Evans. On November 5, 1966, he married Joanne Jeandrevin, and she preceded him in death on March 1, 1993. He later married Margaret A. Aslin, and she preceded him in death on November 15, 2022.
David is survived by his children, Jean Marie Stevens and husband, Aaron, of St. Paul, Lisa Ann Macdonald and husband, Mark, of Flat Rock, Jeremy Andrew Evans and wife, Crystala, of Shelbyville, Katherine Louise Evans and husband, Rich, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Joshua Edward Evans and wife, Ronda, of Flat Rock; sister, Clare Evans of Canton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Martin, James and Mark Evans; and sisters, Mary Ann and Elizabeth Evans.
In 1961, David graduated from Central Catholic High School in Canton, Ohio. He continued his education at Ohio State University ROTC and received a bachelor of science degree in home economics.
David was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Shelbyville Knights of Columbus, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA), National Rifle Association (NRA), Single Action Shooting Society (S.A.S.S.) and the Wild Turkey Federation.
David retired in 2002, as a tool and die maker.
He enjoyed hunting, shooting and being outdoors. His other interests included reenactments from pre-1840’s and cowboy shooting.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 12:30 pm, Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 pm, Tuesday, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176, with Father Mike Keucher officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
