Lois (Davis) Holmes, age 95, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023.
She was born on December 23, 1927, to the late Robert and Garnet Davis. She graduated from Mt. Comfort High School in 1946.
She married the love of her life, James Holmes, on Valentine’s Day 1947. She was a bookkeeper at the Hancock County Bank until she retired.
Lois loved to travel and had visited every state (except Alaska), Hawaii being her favorite. She told everyone to travel and enjoy life while they are young and can enjoy it. She served her church, Seventh Day Adventist, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the American Business Women’s Association, and the Hancock County Lodge of the Eastern Star. She also like to play Euchre, which she played 5 days prior to her death!
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Garnet Davis; husband Jim Holmes, who also passed away on November 4th in 1976; brothers, Chet and Jim Davis; son-in-law, Lynn Kingsbury; and daughter-in-law, Annette Holmes.
She leaves behind her children Roger Holmes, of Texas; Sandy (Dennis) Strahl, of Greenfield; grandchildren, Candi Einspahr, Scott (Jessica) Kingsbury, Lori (Dan) Bolene, and Chris Holmes; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister (little shadow) Carolyn Schroeder; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory in Greenfield.
