Norma L. (Combs) Snyder, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 peacefully at her home.

She was born October 31, 1939 in Dunnville, KY. to Acie Taylor and Ruth (Bolt) Taylor.

Norma grew up in Dunnville, KY. until she married and moved up to Shelbyville where she resided for most of her life, aside from the 17 years that she lived in Fort Wayne.  She was very happy to be back to her home in Indiana with family and close friends.

Norma was a homemaker but she also worked for Spenax Corporation and Overheard Door through the years.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word search puzzles.  To her family, she was known as the best cook ever.  They loved her homemade chocolate pies and her famous salad was a must at every family gathering.  One of the most important things to her was her family.  She doted on all of her grandchildren.

She married Myron Snyder on August 1, 1977 and he survives. They spent 46 wonderful years together.

Norma is also survived by her daughters, Karen Henderson and Sharon Sutton; her grandchildren, Steven Monroe, Kyle Henderson, Gena (husband, Matt) Denk; great-grandchildren, Gunner Speece, Taj Monroe, Jace Henderson, Kohen Henderson, Ella Bennett and they will miss their NaNa dearly. Her                   sisters, Barbara (husband, Ronald) Williams and Brenda Schreiner.  She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and brother and sister in laws.          

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Hurley Gail Taylor, father of her children, Norman Gene Combs, son-in-law, Gary Henderson; step-son, Jason Wyatt, brother-in-law, Michael Schreiner.

Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2023 from noon to 2 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Sharp officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve Norma’s family.

Memorial contributions may be given in honor of Norma to “Santa Protectors” and may be mailed to Fire Station #1, 40 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville, IN. 46146.
