Samuel H. "Sam" Williamson, 89, of Freedom, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington.
Born March 7, 1934 in Somerset, Kentucky, he was the son of Henry Williamson and Telphus (Loveless) Williamson. He married Violet Annabelle (Myer) Williamson on June 10, 1952 and she preceded him on August 7, 2023.
Survivors include a daughter- Mary Games (husband William) of Fairland, a son Bruce Williamson (wife Connie) of Freedom; a sister Helen Barnard of Shelbyville; 6 grandchildren- Tonya, Danny, Derrick, Jacob, Christopher, Travis; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse,
a brother Jewell Williamson, and 2 sisters- Ruby Holzhausen, and Hazel Reeves.
Mr. Williamson had lived in Freedom for 2 years, after moving from Shelbyville. He had been employed as a furnace attender with Knauf Fiber Glass, retiring after 46 years of service. He was a member of Spencer Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Sam loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching westerns on TV.
Memorial services will be 6:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road with Pastor Samuel Ngala officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 4:00 pm until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Northwood Christian Church, or the Spencer Seventh Day Adventist Church, in care of the funeral home.
