Shirley Ann Shepherdson, 88, of Morristown, passed away, Friday, November 3, 2023, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born July 10, 1935, in Shelby County, the daughter of Earl and Lucille (Bundy) Nugent. On June 7, 1953, she married Robert “Bob” Shepherdson, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1990.
Shirley is survived by her children, Teena McMichael, Tim Shepherdson and wife, Debbie, and Terri McColley and significant other, Allen Studt, all of Morristown; grandchildren, April Theobald and husband, Jason, Angie Theobald and husband, Michael, Christopher McMichael and wife, Chelsea, Tricia Myers and husband, Aaron, Linsey Giant and husband, Nik, Anthony Shepherdson and wife, Denise, J.R. Wells and significant other, Miranda Macy, and Toni Lyn Butler and husband, Leroy; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to Bob, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tony Shepherdson; sons-in-law, Kevin McMichael and Jay McColley; sister, Rita Nugent; brother, Frank Nugent; and significant other, Richard Waterman.
In 1953, Shirley graduated from Morristown High School, she completed numerous continuing education classes throughout the years.
She was a member of the Fountaintown United Methodist Church, now known as, Fountaintown Community Church.
Shirley was formerly the payroll clerk for Shelby Eastern Schools, for over 30 years.
She currently was serving as the Hanover Township Trustee, a position she had held since January of 1991.
Shirley was very active in her community and had held offices in the local, county and state Trustee Associations, as well as the local and state Women’s Republican Organization. She also served on the board of directors of the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department and the Morristown Boys and Girls Club.
She was formerly a member of the Dad’s Night In Home Extension Club, Say Go Club and past-president of the Mu Beta and Reading Club.
As a very devoted and loving mother she was a member of the Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) and Parent Teachers Association (PTA). She was also a 4-H leader and served as room mother in all four of her children’s classrooms.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the funeral home, with Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
Interment will be at Hanover Cemetery in Shelby County.
