
Southwestern used a 21-point fourth quarter Thursday night to avenge an earlier season loss to Morristown.
Jace Patterson and Cecil Newton hit fourth-quarter three-pointers and assisted with a 9-of-11 performance at the free throw line to secure the Spartans a 61-52 road victory.
Ben Kahler led the Spartans (7-11), winners of three of their last four, with 20 points. Patterson finished with 11. Mitchell Clements had 10. Michael Clements added to the balanced scoring effort with nine and Newton finished with eight.
The Spartans made seven 3s and were 13 of 18 from the free throw line.
Morristown, who defeated Southwestern 52-29 in a Shelby County Tournament semifinal game at Triton Central on Jan. 10, led at the end of each of the first three quarters.
Kellen Crim hit three 3s to lead Morristown (8-11), who has lost five of its last six games, with 21 points. Dalton McMichael and Colin Kieninger each scored nine.
The Yellow Jackets had just two field goals in the final quarter while getting outscored 21-9.
Morristown is at Eastern Hancock (10-7) Saturday.
Southwestern is at Knightstown (2-14) Tuesday.
