Campos Family Ventures earned their second Leading Quarter Horse Owner award in the past three years at the conclusion of the 2024 racing season at Horseshoe Indianapolis. They topped the standings nearly start to finish with 17 wins, nine ahead of Ricardo Martinez to score the title.
Based in Connersville, Indiana, with their own training center, Campos Family Ventures won more than $515,000 this season in purse earnings, smashing the previous record for Quarter Horse owner for most wins and most purse earnings in one season. Their 17 wins tops the previous record set in 2016 and again in 2020 of 13 wins by Tony Cunningham and Williams Racing Stable, Inc., respectively.
Last year’s Quarter Horse Owner Pattie Marshall accumulated more than $404,000 to establish a new mark. Campos Family Ventures is the first owner to surpass the half million-dollar mark in one season to establish the new mark. Trainer Claudio Barraza spoke on behalf of Campos Family Ventures.
“The year started off with them sending me to Heritage Place where we bought Tres of Blood,” explained Barraza, who finished third in the Leading Quarter Horse standings. “He won two stakes out here this year and four races overall. From there, they just continued to win races all season.”
Campos Family Ventures also took home the top spot in the Leading Quarter Horse Owner standings in 2022 with 12 wins on the year. With their success in 2024, they are now among the top 10 all-time leading Quarter Horse owners in only seven years of competition.
Other highlights on the year for Campos Family Ventures included CV Struttinforakiss, winner of the Easy’s Night Beat Overnight Stakes, and Zoomin Feature, winner of the $194,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity. Edgar Diaz was their top jockey of the meet, winning 16 of their 17 races. Also, Arbitro won three races while Paradise Beach won two races during the season.
To date, Campos Family Ventures has 43 wins and more than $1.2 million in earnings and are Graded Stakes winning owners.
