Collegiate Update: Bernard records assist, goal in IU Columbus women's soccer match

Cyanne St. Bernard scored the game-tying goal for Indiana University Columbus women's soccer on Sept. 23.

Trailing Georgetown College 2-0 late in the second half, Bernard set up Logan Bierman for the IU Columbus’ first goal at the 81:48 mark.

Just under three minutes later, Bernard, a Shelbyville graduate, scored to tie the contest, which ended that way.

Fellow Shelbyville graduate Rebecca Valdez also played all 90 minutes for IU Columbus in the 2-2 tie.

IU Columbus opened River States Conference play Thursday with a 1-0 loss to West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

IU Columbus is 2-3-1 this season.

Brooklyn Schiffli

The Triton Central graduate had one kill, five assists, two service aces and eight digs Saturday for Jacksonville State volleyball in a 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 loss to Western Kentucky.

On Friday, Western Kentucky defeated Jacksonville State, 25-9, 25-19, 25-15. Schiffli had one kill, seven assists, one ace and 23 digs.

Jacksonville State is 7-8 (0-2 Conference USA).

Maggie Schweitzer

The Triton Central graduate helped Hanover volleyball pull out a 26-28, 28-26, 25-16, 26-24 win Wednesday at Spalding University. Schweitzer finished with one kill, 18 assists, two aces and 12 digs.

Hanover finished 1-2 at the Ohio Northern Invitational.

The Panthers opened Friday with a 27-25, 20-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13 loss to Heidelberg University. Schweitzer had two kills, 23 assists and nine digs.

Hanover scored a 21-25, 18-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-19 win over Wheaton College Saturday. Schweitzer collected 27 assists, two kills, three aces and eight digs.

Ohio Northern defeated Hanover, 25-14, 25-17, 26-28, 25-15. Schweitzer racked up 20 assists and six digs.

Hanover is 15-3 this season.

Julia Sanders

The Triton Central graduate had 12 digs, one kill, two assists and three aces in IU Kokomo’s 25-20, 25-20, 25-15 win over IU Southeast Thursday.

On Friday, IU Kokomo defeated IU South Bend, 25-20, 25-17, 25-16. Sanders finished with one kills and six digs.

IU Kokomo is 15-4 (3-0 River States Conference).

Asher Caldwell

The Morristown graduate carded a 4-over par 75 Saturday for Trine University to finish tied for 12th at the MIAA Jamboree No. 2 at Kalamazoo Country Club in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Caldwell had four birdies, including on the final two holes, to help Trine finish third overall.

Brayden Wilkins

The Triton Central graduate had one tackle and produced two kickoff returns that totaled 42 yards for Franklin College Saturday in a 27-14 Homecoming win over Ohio Wesleyan.
