Collegiate Update: Faust, Marian come up short in loss to No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan

Indiana Wesleyan University, ranked No. 2 nationally, secured a 77-69 road win Saturday at No. 17 Marian University in Indianapolis.

The loss dropped the Knights to 14-5 overall and 7-2 in the Crossroads League standings.

Triton Central graduate Olivia Faust (photo, with ball) scored five points, collected five rebounds and added three steals and one block for Marian.

On Wednesday, Faust had five points, one rebound, one assist and one block in Marian’s 89-54 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio).

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

Kyle Crim

The Morristown graduate finished with two points, one rebound and two assists Wednesday for Hanover in a 75-50 victory over Rose-Hulman.

The Panthers are 9-7 this season and 5-4 against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) teams.

Drake Moore

The Morristown graduate contributed two points and one steal on Jan. 14 in IU Kokomo’s 91-84 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.

Moore had one rebound Saturday in the Cougars’ 97-93 loss to IU East.

The Cougars are 13-5 (4-2 River States Conference).

Tenleigh Phelps and Lizzie Graham

Phelps, a Triton Central graduate, had 19 points, six rebounds and two assists Saturday in IU South Bend’s 68-65 loss to IU Northwest.

On Wednesday, Phelps finished with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 91-55 win over Judson University.

Graham, a Triton Central graduate, had three points and one rebound against Judson.

The Titans are 14-3 overall and 7-3 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings.

Bella Larrison

The Waldron graduate collected seven points, nine rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block Saturday in Anderson’s 69-65 win at Earlham College.

On Wednesday, the Ravens defeated Manchester, 66-57. Larrison had 10 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Anderson is 8-7 overall and 5-4 in the HCAC standings.

Rylie Stephens

The Triton Central graduate finished with six points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal Saturday in West Florida’s 70-67 win at Montevallo (Alabama).

On Thursday, West Florida defeated Auburn Montgomery, 69-59. Stephens had four points, four rebounds, six assists and one steal.

Will Rife

The Shelbyville graduate finished runner-up for Wabash College swimming in the 100-yard butterfly Friday in a dual meet with Franklin College. Rife touched the wall in 53.47 seconds.

Rife also helped a Wabash relay team place third in the 200 medley relay.

Hadyn Ball

The Triton Central graduate placed eighth for Wabash Saturday at the Spartan Mat Classic at Manchester University.

Ball finished 1-3 wrestling at 197 pounds.

Ball opened the event with a pinfall loss to Huntingdon College’s Nicholas Brashear. He followed that with a consolation round win over his own teammate, Trescott Duffy, 13-3.

Ball then lost 5-1 to Huntingdon’s Brock Johnson and lost 8-7 in the seventh-place match to Marian’s Clay Guenin.

Ball also competed with Wabash at the National Wrestling Coaches Association/United States Marine Corps National Duals on Jan. 10-11.

He finished 1-2 at 197 pounds in three dual matches. His lone win came against Albion College’s Bernard Harrison.

Friday Night Spikes

Several Shelby County graduates competed Friday at Rose-Hulman in an indoor track and field meet.

Bailey Stamper

The Triton Central graduate finished seventh for Franklin College in the shot put (9.24 meters) and sixth in the weight throw (11.87 meters).

Brayden Wilkins

The Triton Central graduate placed fourth in the 60 meters (7.17 seconds) and fourth in the 200 (23.45) for Franklin College.

Elijah von Werder

The Shelbyville graduate finished 30th in the 1-mile race (5:07.31) for Franklin College.

Tristin Maloney

Also running for Franklin College, the Shelbyville graduate placed 39th in the 1-mile (6:47.31).

Connor Duncan

The Shelbyville graduate finished 28th in the shot put (9.56 meters) for Franklin College and 26th in the weight throw (9.83 meters).

Michael Fox

The Shelbyville graduate finished seventh in the 3,000 meters (9:13.38) for Manchester University.

Zaleeya Martin

The Shelbyville graduate won the 60 meters (7.78) and placed fourth in the 200 (27.52) for the University of Indianapolis Friday at the Gerry England Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis (UIndy).

Ethan Lambert

The Shelbyville graduate placed eighth for UIndy in the weight throw (43 feet, five inches) and 11th in the shot put (40-8.25) at the Gerry England Invitational.

On Saturday, Lambert represented UIndy at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic at the Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and finished 19th in the shot put (36-4) and 20th in the weight throw (42-3.5).

Allison Batten

The Morristown graduate finished ninth for Trine University Saturday in the 400 (1:08.10) at the Sean Brady Alumni Invitational, hosted by Trine.

Kilikina Schultz

The Shelbyville graduate finished 15th in the 60 hurdles (10.53) and 36th in the 200 (29.87) for Muskingum Saturday in Muskie Meet No. 1 at Muskingum in New Concord, Ohio.

Madalyn Hudnall

The Waldron graduate finished third in the shot put (37-7.75) and fifth in the weight throw (42-3.25) for Mount St. Joseph Saturday at the Lions Invitational at Mount St. Joseph.

On Jan. 11 at the MSJ Invitational, Hudnall placed second in the shot put (35-8.75) and fourth in the weight throw (39-11.25).
