
Oliver Gearlds finished 5-over-par over two rounds at Wildcat Creek Golf Club to help Indiana University Kokomo win the IUK Spring Shootout.
The Triton Central graduate (photo) shot 75 Saturday and 74 Sunday to finish tied for third overall in the individual standings.
On April 8, Gearlds finished 12-over-par for the Cougars at The Clash at Cinder Ridge in Wilmington, Illinois. He shot rounds of 80 and 76 to lead IU Kokomo at the event hosted by Olivet Nazarene University.
Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.
Kylee Edwards
The Shelbyville graduate had hits in all three games against Missouri this past weekend.
On Friday, Mississippi State defeated Missouri, 7-0. Edwards had a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Missouri won game two of the series Saturday, 12-8. Edwards went 1-for-4 in the loss.
Edwards was on base twice and scored two runs Sunday in the Bulldogs’ 10-2 win that improved them to 35-11 (9-6 SEC).
Charlie Rife
The Shelbyville graduate had a two-run triple Friday in Bellarmine’s 10-5 loss to the University of Central Arkansas.
On Saturday, he had one of Bellarmine’s seven hits in a 1-0 win.
The Knights are 9-26 (5-10 ASUN) this season.
Karissa Hamilton
The Shelbyville graduate belted her third home run of the season Wednesday in Kentucky’s 7-3 win over Marshall.
Hamilton then helped Kentucky secure a doubleheader sweep Friday at Boston University. She reached base twice in a 4-3, 8-inning win. In game two, she delivered a solo home run in a 13-4 victory.
The Wildcats are 26-17 this season.
Katie Mathies
The Shelbyville graduate racked up 14 hits during DePauw’s current six-game win streak.
On Friday at Oberlin, Mathies had a triple in a 12-2 win in game one of a doubleheader. She had four hits in game two’s 10-0 win.
DePauw swept Wooster Saturday, 9-5 and 6-0. In game one, Mathies had two hits including a double. She had another double and scored a run in game two.
On Sunday, Mathies had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs in a 4-1 victory at Ohio Wesleyan. In game two, she had two more hits, a walk and a stolen base in a 9-2 victory.
DePauw is 14-10 overall and a perfect 6-0 against North Coast Athletic Conference opponents.
Brooke Lipperd
The Shelbyville graduate had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run in Franklin’s 6-0 win Thursday over Spalding.
Franklin is 11-8 this season.
Erica Henry
The Shelbyville graduate delivered two strong pitching performances for IU Columbus to get wins over Midway University and Oakland City.
On Wednesday, Henry allowed five hits and three walks while striking out three in IU Columbus’ 4-2 win over Midway.
Henry pitched well Friday in a 3-0 loss to Brescia University. She allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out six.
On Saturday, Henry pitched another complete game where she allowed six hits and struck out three in a 2-1 win over Oakland City.
IU Columbus is 12-22 (9-13 RSC).
Cheyenne Eads
The Shelbyville graduate pitched all 10 innings Sunday, allowed six hits and struck out nine to lead the University of Indianapolis to a 4-3 win at McKendree in Lebanon, Illinois.
The win improved Eads to 15-9 in the circle. The Greyhounds improved to 28-18 (14-10 GLVC).
On Saturday at Illinois Springfield, Eads had three hits, including a double, in a 6-4 loss. In game two, Eads twirled a 6-hit shutout and struck out seven in a 1-0 victory.
Eads also secured a win Wednesday over Cedarville, 9-0. She allowed two hits and struck out nine.
Kilikina Schultz
The Shelbyville graduate placed 15th for Muskingum University in the 100 hurdles (17.82 seconds) and the 400 hurdles (1:13.32) at the 2025 Division III All-Ohio Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Ethan Lambert
The Shelbyville graduate represented the University of Indianapolis at the Indiana Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University.
He finished 24th in the shot put (12.61 meters), 38th in the discus (24.41) and 25th in the hammer throw (39.94).
Indiana Division III Championships
Five Shelby County graduates represented two schools Saturday at DePauw University.
Allison Batten
The Morristown graduate finished 19th in the 200 (27.93) and third in the 400 (1:03.16) for Trine University.
Bailey Stamper
The Triton Central graduate placed 11th in the shot put (8.43 meters), 20th in the discus (21.71) and 17th in the hammer throw (24.55) for Franklin College.
Brayden Wilkins
The Triton Central graduate finished sixth in the 100 (10.91) and fifth in the 200 (22.21) for Franklin College.
Elijah von Werder
The Shelbyville graduate placed 21st in the 800 (2:07.75) for Franklin College.
Connor Duncan
The Shelbyville graduate finished 25th in the discus (26.35) and 26th in the hammer throw (24.43) for Franklin College.
