Collegiate Update: Hudnall wins javelin competition at Mike Becraft Invitational

Madalyn Hudnall produced a pair of top-three finishes for Mount St. Joseph at the Mike Becraft Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.

Hudnall, a Waldron graduate, won the javelin competition with a personal-best throw of 38.76 meters. She also finished third in the shot put (11.83 meters) and 18th in the discus (28.61 meters).

Shelbyville graduate Madisen Hinderliter placed fifth in the hammer throw (41.17 meters) and 10th in the discus (31.72 meters) for St. Francis (Indiana).

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

 

 

Kylee Edwards

The Shelbyville graduate blasted her fifth home run of the season and drove in three runs April 16 in Mississippi State’s 16-1 win over Memphis.

The Bulldogs are 30-13 this season.

 

 

Kina Schultz

The Shelbyville graduate finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.48 seconds and fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:13.72 for Muskingum University Friday at the Kenyon Invitational.

 

 

Karissa Hamilton

The Shelbyville graduate delivered a 2-run single and a walk Sunday for the University of Kentucky in a 2-1 win at Auburn.

 

 

Charlie Rife

The Shelbyville graduate had a single and two RBI Saturday for Bellarmine in a 5-3 loss at Central Arkansas.

 

 

Katie Mathies

The Shelbyville graduate had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs Sunday in DePauw’s 9-8 win in game one of a doubleheader against Wooster.

On Saturday, DePauw defeated Oberlin 3-1 and 9-1 to remain undefeated against North Coast Athletic Conference foes.

The Tigers swept Wooster Sunday with a 4-3 victory in game two.

DePauw is 20-11-1 this season and 8-0 in the NCAC standings.

 

 

Abby Eberhardt

The Triton Central graduate had two hits and drove in a run Friday in Manchester's 8-1 win over Olivet.

Manchester is 17-12 this season.

 

 

Morgan Stieneker and Erica Henry

Shelbyville graduate Morgan Stieneker had two hits and Erica Henry, also a former Golden Bear, allowed one hit and no runs over two innings of relief work Saturday in IU Columbus’ 7-0 loss at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The Pomeroys defeated IU Columbus 5-0 in game two of the doubleheader. Henry pitched six innings, allowed 10 hits and all five runs.

IU Columbus is 10-24 this season.

 

 

Asher Caldwell

The Morristown graduate finished tied for 31st after shooting a round of 9-over par 80 on April 16 for Trine in the AC Eddy Invitational played at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.

Caldwell posted three birdies on the back nine to climb the leaderboard and help Trine to a third-place finish in the team standings.

 

 

Oliver Gearlds

The Triton Central graduate carded rounds of 78 and 78 for a total of 156 to help IU Kokomo win the IUK Spring Invitational Friday at Wildcat Creek Golf Course.

On April 15, Gearlds shot 153 (77-76) to finish tied for 49th at the Ackerman-Allen Shootout played at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Indiana.

 

 

Elizabeth Kemper

The Triton Central graduate posted 156 (78-78) to finish tied for seventh overall to help No. 20 Taylor win the Ackerman-Allen Shootout on April 15.

2024 Little State Championship

Indiana Wesleyan University hosted several DII, DIII and NAIA programs Friday and Saturday for the Little State Championship.

 

 

Shelbyville graduate Zaleeya Martin helped the University of Indianapolis win the women’s team title with a pair of top-six finishes.

Martin placed fourth in the 100 meters (12.43) and sixth in the 200 (26.47). She also was part of UIndy’s fifth-place finishing 400 meter relay team (49.05).

 

 

Morristown graduate Allison Batten placed 33rd in the 200 (28.95) and 28th in the 400 (1:05.64) for Trine.

 

 

Morristown graduate Jacob Batten finished 27th for Trine in the 400 hurdles (1:07.63).

Rose Hulman Twilight Meet

Franklin College track and field traveled to Terre Haute Friday for its final meet of the regular season.

 

 

Southwestern graduate Alison Muck finished tied for fourth in the high jump with a best clearance of 1.43 meters.

 

 

Triton Central graduate Bailey Stamper placed 11th in the shot put at 8.82 meters.

 

 

Shelbyville graduate Tristin Maloney finished 23rd in the 1,500 (5:11.63).

 

 

And Shelbyville graduate Ava Ruschhaupt placed 13th in the 100 (15.37) and 17th in the 200 (34.01).
