Collegiate Update: IU Kokomo volleyball eliminated from NAIA national volleyball tournament

Indiana University Kokomo's postseason run ended Friday at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

Eastern Oregon, ranked No. 6 nationally, swept No. 11 IU Kokomo, 25-11, 25-18, 25-15 to eliminate the Cougars, who finished the season with a 33-6 record.

Julia Sanders, a Triton Central graduate, collected four digs for IU Kokomo in the loss.

On Thursday at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IU Kokomo defeated No. 19 Midland University, 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21. Sanders finished with five assists and 13 digs.

The Cougars were making their fifth appearance in program history at the NAIA Final Site.

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

Rylie Stephens

The Triton Central graduate scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead West Florida to a 70-61 come-from-behind win Saturday over West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.

The Argos improved to 5-2 this season.

Brooklyn Bailey

The Triton Central graduate had six points, 11 rebounds, one assist and one block on Dec. 3 for Kaskaskia College in a 77-49 loss to Moberly Area Community College.

Olivia Faust

The Triton Central graduate finished with 13 points, three rebounds and one block Saturday for No. 16 Marian in an 81-54 win at Goshen College.

On Wednesday, Marian defeated Taylor, 84-49. Faust had 12 points, six rebounds, one block and two steals.

The Knights are 10-1.

Kyle Crim

The Morristown graduate finished with three points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal Saturday in Hanover’s 74-66 loss at Franklin College.

On Wednesday, Crim had three rebounds in a 78-70 win over Berea College.

Hanover is 5-2 this season.

Drake Moore

The Morristown graduate scored six points and collected one rebound and one block Saturday for IU Kokomo in a 77-64 loss at IU Southeast.

The Cougars are 5-4.

Tenleigh Phelps and Lizzie Graham

IU South Bend improved to 8-1 this season with an 82-48 win at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois.

Phelps, a Triton Central graduate, scored a game-high 23 points and added four rebounds, two assists and three steals to her stat line for the Titans.

Graham, a Triton Central graduate, finished with 11 points and one steal. She made 3 of 4 three-point attempts.

Bella Larrison

The Waldron graduate scored 13 points and collected nine rebounds, one assist and three steals Saturday for Anderson in a 67-57 win over Berea to improve the Ravens to 5-4 this season.

On Wednesday, Anderson defeated Franklin College 91-86. Larrison finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block.

Hadyn Ball

The Triton Central graduate finished 0-2 for Wabash College Saturday at the Indiana Little State Tournament at the University of Indianapolis.

Wrestling at 197 pounds, Ball lost by technical fall to Cumberlands’ Javon Howe in his opening match. In the consolation round, Ball lost 3-1 to Thomas More’s Zach Watson.

Will Rife

The Shelbyville graduate finished third in the 100 butterfly Friday for Wabash College in a dual swim meet against DePauw.

Rife touched the wall in 54.52 seconds. He also placed 12th in the 50 freestyle in 23.57.

Wabash defeated DePauw 194-100.

Madalyn Hudnall

The Waldron graduate won the shot put (37 feet, 10.5 inches) and weight throw (41-2.5) Saturday for Mount St. Joseph at the MSJ Fall Preview – the first indoor track and field meet of the season.

Kina Schultz

The Shelbyville graduate placed fifth in her 60-meter hurdles heat in 10.422 seconds Saturday for Muskingum at the Case Western Reserve Invitational in Cleveland, Ohio.

Schultz also finished 34th in the 200 in 30.15.

Ethan Lambert

The Shelbyville graduate finished 11th in the shot put (40-2) and 11th in the weight throw (41-7.25) for the University of Indianapolis in the Scott Fangman Invitational hosted by the Greyhounds.

Hannah Wright

The Shelbyville graduate finished fourth in the 1-mile race for St. Mary-of-the-Woods at the Scott Fangman Invitational at the University of Indianapolis.

Wright crossed the finish line in six minutes, 52 seconds.
