Collegiate Update: Stephens, West Florida suffer first two losses of season

Rylie Stephens scored a team-high 18 points but it was not enough to keep West Florida from suffering its second-straight loss Saturday in Pensacola, Florida.

Georgia Southwestern defeated West Florida, 83-66, to drop the Argos to 4-2 this season.

Stephens (photo), a Triton Central graduate, also had two rebounds and two steals in the loss.

On Nov. 26, Columbus State traveled to Pensacola and defeated West Florida, 80-66. Stephens finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one block.

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

Brooklyn Bailey

The Triton Central graduate had 11 points, five rebounds and one assist Friday in Kaskaskia College’s 101-43 loss at Moberly Area Community College as part of the Moberly Area Thanksgiving Classic.

Olivia Faust

The Triton Central graduate finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists on Nov. 26 in No. 16-ranked Marian’s 75-50 win over St. Thomas University (Florida).

The Knights are 8-1 this season.

Drake Moore

The Morristown graduate collected two points and two rebounds Saturday in Indiana University Kokomo’s 61-59 win over Campbellsville University (Kentucky) in Kingsport, Tennessee.

On Sunday, the University of Pikeville defeated IU Kokomo, 77-75. Moore had two points and one rebound.

The Cougars are 5-3 this season.

Tenleigh Phelps

The Triton Central graduate scored 41 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had three steals on Nov. 26 in IU South Bend’s 74-64 win over Holy Cross College (Indiana).

The Titans improved to 7-1 this season.

Bella Larrison

The Waldron graduate had a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) on Nov. 26 in Anderson University’s 81-64 win over St. Mary’s (Indiana).

The Ravens are 3-4.
