Sam Collier ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more to lead Class 2A, No. 14 Triton Central to a 36-21 victory Saturday afternoon over Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter.
The Tigers improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 against Indiana Crossroads Conference opponents to stay in contention for the conference title.
Ritter dropped to 1-4 (0-4 ICC).
Collier opened the scoring Saturday with a two-yard plunge early in the first quarter. The extra-point kick failed.
Just over five minutes later on the scoreboard clock at Cardinal Ritter High School, Collier connected with Brayden Whitlow from 16 yards out to make it 13-0.
Kade Stephens (photo) broke free for a 33-yard scoring run early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 20-0 and Collier ended another drive with a 2-yard scoring run to set the halftime lead at 27-0.
The Raiders started the scoring in the third quarter when Santana Allen found Marshawn Henderson behind the Triton Central defense for a 60-yard scoring strike.
Whitlow (photo) hauled in his second touchdown pass from Collier with 4:26 left in the third quarter and the TC defense recorded a safety late in the quarter for a 36-7 lead.
Ritter scored twice in the last half of the fourth quarter. Allen connected with Kevin Sanders for a 5-yard touchdown pass and Tavien Fox added a 2-yard run.
Allen finished the game completing 17 of 41 pass attempts for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Henderson had eight receptions for 152 yards.
The Raiders managed just 16 yards rushing.
Triton Central takes on Indianapolis Scecina (2-4, 2-2) Friday at Indianapolis Bishop Chatard High School.
