Demolition Derby closes out 175th Annual Shelby County Fair

The Shelby County Demolition Derby closed out the 175th Annual Shelby County Fair Saturday night with hard-hitting action at the grandstand.

After a six-year hiatus, Tom Painter (photo, below) returned to the track and won the Full Size Stock event while driving the No. 0 car.

 

 

Dennis Kight finished second and Benjie Meulen was third.

Shawn Chancy earned the Mad Dog award for his relentless performance. Chancy produced several full-track hits that impressed the crowd.

Painter’s victory marked a remarkable comeback, demonstrating that despite his time away from the sport, his talent and competitive spirit remain undiminished.

 

 

Mini Gut-N-Go

The Mini Gut-N-Go demolition derby ended with a commanding performance from Blake Branum (photo) in the No. 777 car.

Nick Hornaday was runner-up and Morton Palmer finished third. Palmer also earned the Mad Dog award with his aggressive driving and never-back-down attitude that thrilled the audience.

Branum’s victory came as a result of expert driving and tactical savvy that made him a standout performer at the event.

 

 

Youth Demolition Derby

The Youth Demolition Derby showcased an impressive display of youth talent with Bryleigh Mullins dominating the event.

Driving the No. 12 car, Mullins not only secured first place but also earned the Mad Dog award for her aggressive driving and relentless performance.

Trentyn Trowbridge claimed second place and Steven Hildebrand was third.

Mullins’ double accolade of first place and Mad Dog honor underscored her exceptional skill and fearless approach that makes her a rising star in the sport.

 

 

80’s & Newer

The 80’s & Newer class showcased some of the fiercest competition of the event. Thomas Williams emerged as the standout performer, clinching first place and the Mad Dog award in his No. 82 car.

Larry Sexton was second in part to some strategic maneuvers and powerful hits. John Spiker was third.
