Executive Committee approves IHSAA boys volleyball state tournament sectional groupings

The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) presented the initial sectional groupings for the inaugural Boys Volleyball State Tournament this spring.

There are currently 144 schools indicating they will have a team participating this season. Some proposed sectionals may be realigned as teams add or drop out.

Sectional host sites and regional and state finals information will be announced at a later date.

There are 16 proposed sectional sites with 8-10 teams per site.

Sectional 14 would feature two Shelby County schools.

Shelbyville, which started its boys volleyball program two seasons ago, and Morristown would be joined in the sectional by Columbus East, Columbus North, Franklin, Greenwood Christian, Greenwood and Whiteland.

Here are the other tentative sectional pairings:

• Sectional 1 – Calumet, Crown Point, Hammond Bishop Noll, Hammond Central, Hammond Morton, Illiana Christian, Lake Central, Lighthouse CPC and Munster.
• Sectional 2 – Andrean, Boone Grove, DeMotte Christian, Hebron, Hobart, Kankakee Valley, Merrillville, Portage and Valparaiso.
• Sectional 3 – Chesterton, Kouts, LaPorte, Michigan City, Morgan Township, South Central (Union Mills), Tri-Township, Washington Township and Westville.
• Sectional 4 – Elkhart, Mishawaka Marian, New Prairie, Northridge, Penn, South Bend Adams, South Bend Riley, South Bend St. Joseph, South Bend Washington and Warsaw.
• Sectional 5 – Carroll (Fort Wayne), Columbia City, DeKalb, East Noble, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, Fort Wayne Northrop, Fort Wayne Snider, Leo and Woodlan.
• Sectional 6 – Bellmont, Fort Wayne North Side, Fort Wayne South Side, Fort Wayne Wayne, Heritage, Homestead, Huntington North, New Haven and Norwell.
• Sectional 7 – Crawfordsville, Harrison (West Lafayette), Lafayette Jefferson, Lebanon, McCutcheon, North Putnam, Traders Point Christian, Tri-West Hendricks and Zionsville.
• Sectional 8 – Carmel, Fishers, Guerin Catholic, Hamilton Southeastern, Kokomo, Noblesville, Peru, Taylor and Westfield.
• Sectional 9 – Brebeuf Jesuit, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, International, MTI School of Knowledge, North Central (Indianapolis), Park Tudor, Pike and University.
• Sectional 10 – Heritage Christian, Indianapolis Cathedral, Indianapolis Scecina, Irvington Prep, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, New Castle, Victory College Prep and Warren Central.
• Sectional 11 – Christel House, Herron, Indianapolis Arsenal Tech, Indianapolis Crispus Attucks, Indianapolis George Washington, Indianapolis Metropolitan, Indianapolis Shortridge, Providence Cristo Rey and Purdue Polytechnic-Downtown.
• Sectional 12 – Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Center Grove, Covenant Christian, Decatur Central, Monrovia, Mooresville and Plainfield.
• Sectional 13 – Beech Grove, Central Christian Academy, Franklin Central, Indianapolis Lutheran, New Palestine, Perry Meridian, Roncalli and Southport.
• Sectional 15 – Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Evansville Reitz, Martinsville, Mitchell, North Knox, Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South.
• Sectional 16 – Charlestown, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Madison, New Albany, Rock Creek Academy, Scottsburg, Shawe Memorial, Silver Creek and Southwestern (Hanover).
