The Indiana High School Athletic Association's Executive Committee approved the sectional assignments Monday in baseball and softball for the next two years.

The Executive Committee accepted the recommendations of the realignment committee which determined the sectional groups for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.

The committee of 12 individuals met last spring to determine the four class sports including baseball and softball. The committee consisted of school administrators representing each IHSAA district and class.

Host sites for the next two years will be determined by athletic administrators in each sectional this fall and forwarded to the IHSAA for state tournament planning.

The announcement was particularly interesting to Shelbyville High School’s baseball and softball programs now that each had been reassigned from Class 4A to Class 3A.

The new sectional groupings mirror the previously announced groupings for basketball and volleyball – the other two sports at Shelbyville affected by reclassification.

The Golden Bears baseball and softball programs will now compete in Class 3A, Sectional 28 with Beech Grove, Greenwood, Indian Creek, New Palestine, Roncalli and Rushville.

Triton Central’s baseball and softball programs will be in Class 2A, Sectional 43 with Christel House, Eastern Hancock, Heritage Christian, Indianapolis Scecina and Irvington Prep.

Shelby County’s three Class A schools – Morristown, Southwestern and Waldron – will all compete in baseball and softball sectionals (Sectional 59) with Edinburgh, Knightstown, North Decatur, South Decatur and Tri.
