IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament Pairings Show airs Sunday

The Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Boys Basketball State Tournament Pairings Show is Sunday at 6 p.m.

The 2-hour show will air live at www.IHSAAtv.org and be simulcast on affiliates of the IHSAA Champions Network which includes GIANT fm in Shelbyville. The show will be available locally on 96.5 fm, 106.3 fm, 1520 am, or online at giant.fm.

Bob Lovell and Greg Rakestraw will host the show that details the sectional pairings for the 115th Annual Boys Basketball State Tournament that starts March 4 and concludes with four state champions being crowned on March 29 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Sectional tournaments run from March 4-8. Regional champions are crowned on March 15. Semistate tournaments follow on March 22.

Class 3A, Sectional 28

Shelbyville, ranked No. 13 in this week’s Associated Press Class 3A poll, is the host site for a 7-team sectional.

Joining the Golden Bears (16-5) in the field are Class 3A, No. 2 New Palestine (20-2), Greenwood (11-9), Indianapolis Roncalli (13-6), Rushville (3-17), Indian Creek (9-10) and Beech Grove (7-13).

New Palestine is 4-0 against potential sectional opponents this season, including defeating Shelbyville 63-42 just one week ago.

Greenwood is 3-1 against the sectional field and has wins over Shelbyville (63-61 on Dec. 17) and Roncalli (53-49 on Feb. 1).

Class 2A, Sectional 43

Christel House in Indianapolis is the host school for a 7-team sectional.

Christel House (13-9) has the second most victories in the sectional field and the most wins (4) against potential sectional foes.

Also in the field are Eastern Hancock (12-7), Indianapolis Scecina (6-14), Heritage Christian (7-12), Triton Central (12-8), KIPP Indy Legacy (14-7) and Irvington Prep (8-16).

Class A, Sectional 59

Six teams in the Edinburgh sectional have between eight and 12 wins.

North Decatur is 11-11 this season with seven of its wins coming against potential sectional opponents.

The host Lancers (9-11) are 6-2 against the sectional field.

Tri (12-7) will compete for the first time in Sectional 59 and for the first time in the southern Indiana half of the bracket.

South Decatur (5-15) and Knightstown (2-16) are in the field as are a trio of Shelby County squads – Morristown (8-12), Southwestern (8-11) and Waldron (11-9).

Regionals

There are eight regional hosts. Each will host two regional championship games, not necessarily in the same class.

The southern Indiana hosts are Southport, Seymour, Lebanon, Washington, Greenfield-Central, Southridge, Martinsville and Loogootee.
