All nine Shelby County cross country runners produced strong performances Saturday at the Shelbyville Regional but did not qualify for the state championship meet.
The top five teams and the top 15 individuals not on an advancing team qualified for the State Finals on Nov. 2 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute.
Shelbyville’s Macey Robbins ran a new personal best time of 20 minutes, 53 seconds to finish 92nd overall.
Shelbyville’s Aerin Garcia-Santiago completed the Blue River Cross Country Course at Blue River Memorial Park in 21:57 to place 146th. Paige O’Connor followed in 22:31, a new personal best, to finish 172nd.
Morristown’s Grace McLaughlin finished 142nd in 21:52 and Audrey VanDyke crossed the finish line in 22:39 to place 174th.
Franklin Central won the regional title with 73 points. Also moving on to the state finals were Noblesville (90), Hamilton Southeastern (140), Westfield (148) and East Central (157).
Indian Creek’s Libby Dowty won the girls regional title with a time of 17:15.
Shelbyville’s Shia Veach was the top Shelby County finisher at the regional. He crossed the finish line in 16:56 to finish 75th overall. His teammate, Logan Reinhart, placed 137th in 17:53.
Waldron’s Will Larrison finished 83rd in 17:03. His teammate, Jared Crosby, finished 115th in 17:34.
Fishers’ Sam Quagliaroli won the boys regional title in 14:57.
The top five advancing teams were Noblesville (45), Hamilton Southeastern (78), Franklin Central (97), Fishers (100) and Mt. Vernon (134).
