Prep Report: Class A, No. 10 Southwestern nets shutout victory at Triton Central

Class A, No. 10 Southwestern got second-half goals from Jace Patterson and Josh Karr to secure a 2-0 road win Thursday at Triton Central.

Patterson scored on a penalty kick near the mid-point of the second half to break a scoreless tie with the Tigers (0-4).

Just over two minutes later, Patterson was credited with the assist on Karr’s goal, his second of the season.

Michael Clements had two saves in goal for Southwestern (3-0).

Girls soccer

Shelbyville 3, Lawrence Central 2

At Shelbyville, Cassie Pike scored the eventual game winner in the second half to improve the Golden Bears to 3-2 this season.

Lawrence Central dropped to 2-2.

Boys tennis

Waldron 5, Morristown 0

At Morristown, the visiting Mohawks pushed their record to 5-0 (2-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference) with a dominant performance against the Yellow Jackets.

At No. 1 singles, Charlie Fischer defeated Dalton McMichael, 6-1, 6-1.

The Mohawks won the other four matches without losing a game.

Triton Central 5, Southwestern 0

At Southwestern, the visiting Tigers improved to 5-0 this season with strong performances in the singles matches. 

Janssen Capps defeated Southwestern’s James Oliver, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Tucker Hutchinson and Bradyn Robinson did not lose a game in the other two singles matches.

At No. 1 doubles, Connor Evans and Max Course topped Jackson Burcham and Chris Cecil, 7-6 (5), 6-1.

Caleb McGuire and Brayden Hoover defeated Dave Coulston and Caleb McDonald at No. 2 doubles.

Volleyball

Jac-Cen-Del def. Waldron, 14-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23

At Waldron, the host Mohawks (1-3) won game one but did not capitalize and dropped the next three games.

Lilli Lozier led Waldron with 14 kills and 19 digs. Lauren Strehle had 17 assists and four service aces.

 Emerson Lindsey had a team-high 20 digs and four aces.

Jac-Cen-Del improved to 3-3.
