Waldron did not have enough firepower to keep up with Class A, No. 13 Tri in its season opener Saturday in Straughn.
The Titans scored 37 points combined in the second and third quarters to pull away for a 61-30 victory.
Waldron played without its leading scorer from last season, Grace Fischer (15.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg), who is recovering from knee surgery. Jackie Corlett, a junior, was the only Mohawk to score in double digits Saturday. She finished with 13 points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals.
Brooklyn Milbourn, a sophomore, collected six points, five rebounds and one assist. Emerson Lindsey, a junior, had five points, two rebounds, four assists and two steals.
The Titans had four players score in double figures including Kenley Cornelius, who finished with a game-high 17 points.
Waldron hosts Shelbyville Tuesday in what will be the Golden Bears’ season opener.

South Decatur 66, Southwestern 16
At South Decatur, the host Cougars outscored Southwestern 24-2 in the second quarter and cruised to the Mid-Hoosier Conference victory.
Riley Benge scored a game-high 13 points for South Decatur (1-0, 1-0 MHC). Makayla Somers also reached double digits with 12 points.
Raegan Benge followed with nine points while Lilly Murray and Dalilah Martin each had eight points.
Tanna Tatlock led Southwestern (1-1, 0-1 MHC) with nine points, six rebounds, one steal and two blocks.
The Spartans are at Waldron Friday.
