Prep Report: Everette captures first medalist honor, leads Golden Bears over Yellow Jackets and Jets

Shelbyville junior Riley Everette shot 48 Tuesday at Blue Bear Golf Club to earn the first medalist honor of her career.

Everette (photo) and the Golden Bears posted a team score of 205 to defeat Morristown and Hauser, who did not field complete teams.

Kylie Stader followed Everette on the Shelbyville scorecard with a 49. Emmie Higgins carded 50 and Maddy Jones and Sophia Asher each shot 58.

Girls golf

Indiana Crossroads Conference Tournament

At Deer Creek Golf Course, Triton Central’s Kennedy Hall finished fourth overall with an 18-hole score of 102 to earn an all-conference award.

Covenant Christian, playing in its first ICC tournament, won the team title with a 422. Monrovia (439) was runner-up led by Avery Wolfe’s 95 that secured the medalist honor.

Triton Central finished third in the team standings at 450, finishing ahead of Speedway (470), Indianapolis Ritter (472) and Beech Grove (514).

Columbus North 175, Southwestern 225

At Harrison Lake Country Club, the host Bull Dogs had two golfers break 40 to help defeat the Spartans.

Erin Hopkins was the medalist at 35. Lindsey Hartwell followed at 39.

Sydney Griffin led Southwestern with a 50.

Boys soccer

Southwestern 2, Morristown 1

The Class A, No. 9 Spartans trailed the Yellow Jackets 1-0 at halftime but got a pair of second-half goals from Ethan Sipes and Jace Patterson to seal the win and improve to 5-0.

Morristown’s first-half goal came from Cameron Colglazier.  

Girls soccer

Mt. Vernon 8, Shelbyville 0

Reagan Britt scored a pair of goals and had an assist to improve the Marauders to 4-0-2 (2-0 Hoosier Heritage Conference).

Shelbyville dropped to 3-3 (1-1 HHC).

Boys tennis

Pendleton Heights 4, Shelbyville 1

At Pendleton Heights, the Golden Bears won at No. 1 doubles where Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong overcame a first-set loss to prevail 6-7, 6-2, 6-1.

Reece Prickett also produced a victory at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

The Arabians won the other three matches in straight sets.

Shelbyville fell to 2-6 (1-1 HHC).

Hauser 4, Southwestern 1

The Spartans’ only victory came at No. 2 doubles where Jackson Burcham and Chris Cecil put together a 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 victory.

New Palestine 4, Waldron 1

New Palestine improved to 8-1 this season by sweeping the double matches and winning at No. singles and No. 2 singles.

The Mohawks’ only match win came at No. 3 singles where Jack Fischer defeated Brady Torzewski, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2. 

The No. 1 singles match was the only other match to go three sets. New Palestine’s Arjomand Khokar defeated Charlie Fischer, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Triton Central 5, Brown County 0

The Tigers (6-0) lost a total of three games in sweeping the Eagles.

At No. 1 singles, Tucker Hutchinson bested Owen East, 6-0, 6-1. The score was the same at No. 1 doubles where Connor Evans and Max Crouse defeated Trevor Shields and Jax Burt.

Volleyball

Triton Central def. Waldron, 25-23, 25-14, 25-23

Waldron fell to 1-7 this season with a straight-set loss to the Tigers.

Lauren Strehle led the Mohawks with 13 assists and nine digs. Emerson Lindsey had six kills and 10 digs.

Rising Sun def. Morristown, 25-18, 25-19, 25-23

Tamryn Miller has seven kills and Reese Merica finished with nine digs and 18 assists to improve the Shiners to 5-2 this season.

Morristown dropped to 4-5.

Guerin Catholic def. Shelbyville, 25-15, 25-17, 25-9

Maddie Fritch topped Guerin Catholic (3-6) with 15 kills. Juliette Fuhrer finished with four service aces and 10 digs.

Ashlyn Turner and Alivia Lee led Shelbyville (0-6) with six kills apiece. Sydney Haehl finished with 12 digs.
