Prep Report: Golden Bears dominate Connersville to improve to 3-0

Shelbyville boys basketball improved to 3-0 for the second-straight season with a dominant 73-36 win over Connersville Saturday at William L. Garrett Gymnasium.

Four Golden Bears scored in double digits led by Caden Claxton’s 22 points. Mar Nicholson and Brody Runnebohm each scored 13 and Gavin Reed finished with 12. Kenny Owens had eight points off the bench.

Shelbyville led 17-13 after one quarter then outscored the Spartans 56-23 over the final three quarters.

Jadon Peterson led Connersville (2-2) with 11 points.

The Golden Bears will attempt to go 4-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season Friday in their Hoosier Heritage Conference opener at New Castle (1-3).

In other boys basketball games:

Triton Central 61, Southwestern 44

At Southwestern Saturday, Eli Sego scored 20 points and three more Tigers reached double digits to improve the visiting Tigers to 3-1.

Triton Central led 43-38 after three quarters then outscored the Spartans 18-6 over the final eight minutes to secure its third win over a Shelby County opponent this season.

Sego scored eight of his team-high 20 points in the decisive fourth quarter.

Max Crouse finished with 13 points – all in the second half. Cael Butler and Silas Blair each had 12.

Ben Kahler scored 27 points to lead Southwestern (0-3).

Triton Central won the junior varsity game 66-33. Landon Bailey led the Tigers with 12 points. Chace Calderone added 11.

James Oliver scored nine points to lead Southwestern.

The Spartans host KIPP Indy Legacy (2-0) Friday. Triton Central hosts Greensburg (1-2) Friday.

Edinburgh 48, Waldron 46, OT

At Edinburgh Saturday, Rylan Londeree scored five points in overtime to lead the host Lancers to the Mid-Hoosier Conference victory.

Londeree finished with 13 points and Bailey Totten scored 14 points – all in the second half – to improve the Lancers to 2-2 (1-0 MHC).

Lucas Shaw topped Waldron (0-3, 0-1 MHC) with 18 points. Eli Stewart finished with 15.

Waldron travels to Morristown Friday.

Hauser 77, Morristown 40

At Hauser Friday, the host Jets led by 13 points at halftime then outscored the Yellow Jackets 29-9 in the third quarter to secure the MHC win.

Stryker Gill made four 3s to finish with a game-high 18 points. Ledger Gelfius had 14 points and Gavin Keller finished with 12.

Dalton McMichael led Morristown (1-3, 0-1 MHC) with 13 points. Kellen Crim had 12.

Morristown hosts Waldron Friday.
