Prep Report: Jones leads Golden Bears to road win at Whiteland

Shelbyville built a 10-8 lead after one quarter Wednesday at Whiteland then slowly pulled away for a 43-30 victory.

Maddy Jones led the Golden Bears with 15 points. Jayla Ash finished with nine and Hannah Baker had eight.

Whiteland lost its fifth straight to fall to 5-14.

The Golden Bears improved to 11-9 and travel to Delta (13-4) Saturday for a Hoosier Heritage Conference contest.

Shelbyville won the junior varsity game Wednesday, 35-14.

In other girls basketball games Wednesday:

Triton Central 73, Greenwood 37

At Triton Central, Maryrose Felling hit six three-pointers in the first half to help the Tigers build a 44-17 lead and cruise to its second win over Greenwood this season.

Felling finished with a game-high 31 points. The junior’s flurry of 3s pushed her past Audra Blackford’s program record for made 3s in a season (62).

Quinn King and Kate Collier each had 10 points to improve the Tigers to 12-7.

Emma Gardner topped Greenwood (3-16) with 14 points.

Triton Central won the junior varsity game, 45-22. Eliana Joy led the Tigers with 12 points. Rylee Pruitt finished with 11.

On Friday, Triton Central hosts Indianapolis Roncalli (12-8) for its 17th Annual “Pink Out” game.

Southwestern 39, Union (Modoc) 37

At Southwestern, Tanna Tatlock scored 17 points and six more Spartans got into the scoring column to help the Spartans snap a 13-game losing streak.

Maci Murray finished with seven points and Maddie Barlow contributed five to improve Southwestern to 3-16.

Glory Ellis led the Rockets (4-12) with 20 points.

The Spartans host Edinburgh (8-12) Friday for a Mid-Hoosier Conference contest.
