Avery Everhart, Olivia Rude and Zoey Coons combined for 20 kills Tuesday to propel Morristown to a sweep of Edinburgh in the North Decatur Volleyball Sectional opener.
The Yellow Jackets defeated the Lancers, 25-17, 25-15, 25-18. Morristown (12-18) will return to North Decatur Saturday for a 10 a.m. semifinal contest against Tri (7-15), a 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 25-9 winner over Knightstown Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets and Titans did not meet in the regular season.
Everhart led Morristown with nine kills and three blocks. Rude finished with six kills and four digs. Coons added five kills and eight digs.
Brooklyn Carlton served four aces. Kindall Dorsey had three aces and a team-high 16 digs. Katie Theobald collected 16 assists.
The other half of the bracket at the North Decatur Sectional plays Thursday with Waldron (4-23) battling the host Chargers (15-11) and South Decatur (24-4) taking on Southwestern (15-15).

Shelbyville’s Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong, 22-2 this season, will face Hamilton Southeastern’s Landon Osswald and Tyler Rich (18-7) Saturday morning in the state doubles tournament regional semifinal round.
The other semifinal pits Brownstown Central’s Lane Steward and Pierson Wheeler (24-0) against Indianapolis North Central’s Max Baltz and Ted Manion (14-9).
The regional championship match will be played Saturday afternoon.
The four regional champions crowned at Fishes, Jasper, Kokomo and LaPorte will advance to the State Finals tournament Oct. 25-26 at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis.
There are still five No. 1 doubles teams competing in the state team tournament that have not yet lost in the postseason.
Cross country
Sectional races are Saturday around the state.
Shelbyville’s cross country venue at Blue River Memorial Park is a sectional site this season.
The Golden Bears, Southwestern, Triton Central and Waldron all will compete locally against runners from Center Grove, Decatur Central, Edinburgh, Franklin, Greenwood Christian, Greenwood, Indian Creek, Mooresville, Perry Meridian, Roncalli, Southport and Whiteland.
The girls race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the boys race to follow at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Morristown travels north to the Mt. Vernon Sectional in Fortville and will compete against Beech Grove, Eastern Hancock, Franklin Central, Greenfield-Central, Indianapolis Tech, Indianapolis Cathedral, Indianapolis Lutheran, Indianapolis Scecina, Irvington Prep, KIPP Indy Legacy, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, Mt. Vernon, New Palestine, Purdue Polytechnic (Downtown), Victory College Prep and Warren Central.
The top 15 individuals from non-advancing teams and the first five qualifying teams from each sectional advance to regional competitions.
The Mt. Vernon and Shelbyville sectionals feed into the Shelbyville Regional on Oct. 26. The Shelbyville Regional also will have qualifiers from sectional races at Noblesville, Rushville and Southwestern (Hanover).
