Shelbyville girls golf collected its first match victory of the season Wednesday at Sarah Shank Golf Course in Indianapolis.
The Golden Bears’ team total of 216 tied Triton Central and outdistanced Beech Grove by 28 strokes (244). By virtue of having a fifth golfer on the scorecard, Shelbyville was declared the winner through the tiebreaker rules.
Shelbyville’s Emmie Higgins carded 45 to earn her third straight medalist honor of the season. Kylie Stader followed with a 54. Riley Everette shot 56. Maddy Jones posted a personal-best round of 61 and recent addition Sophia Asher shot 70 in her first match.
Kennedy Hall topped Triton Central with a 49. Also competing for the Tigers were Lindsay Huxford (51), Hanna Fink (57) and Jaylee Davis (59).
Dari Hines led Beech Grove with a 49.

At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears’ No. 1 doubles pairing of Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong needed three sets to prevail 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 over Brady Tucker and Luke Sherry.
Shelbyville’s Kody Sellers lost a three-set match at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-3 to Jaxson Doddridge.
Shelbyville is 1-1 this season.

At Triton Central, the host Tigers lost seven games total in sweeping the Saints.
Tucker Hutchinson, Janssen Capps and Bradyn Robinson were dominant in singles match victories.
At No. 1 doubles, Max Crouse and Connor Evans defeated Matthew Nieg and Carter Daughtry, 6-1, 6-0.
Brayden Hoover and Caleb McGuire received a forfeit victory at No. 2 doubles.
Triton Central is 2-0 this season.
