Prep Report: Shelbyville golf wins Golden Bear Invitational

Shelbyville boys golf closed out its regular-season schedule Wednesday with a win in the Golden Bear Invitational on its home course – Blue Bear Golf Course.

Shelbyville Black’s 311 bested golf programs representing seven other schools.

Also competing were Roncalli (341), Frankton Black (349), Lawrenceburg (349), East Central (365), Austin (366), Heritage Christian (369), Shelbyville Gold (383), Frankton Gray (388) and Waldron (394).

Shelbyville’s Jake Garrison was the medalist with a round of 75. Another Golden Bear, Brock Wischmeyer, was runner-up at 77. Also competing for Shelbyville Black were Logan Tobian (79), Damiles McDuffey (80) and Logan Reinhart (86).

Shelbyville Gold was led by Kameron Timberlake’s 86.

Isaiah Jones led Waldron with an 84.

Triton Central Invitational

At Hawk’s Tail Golf Course in Greenfield, Mt. Vernon shot 328 to secure the team title. New Palestine Red (333) was runner-up ahead of Tri (336), New Castle (350), Eastern Hancock (352), New Palestine White (374), Triton Central Green (392), Triton Central White (426) and Blue River Valley (462).

Tri’s Gracen Huffman was the medalist with a 76.

Chase Chandler topped Triton Central Green’s scorecard with an 87. Derreck Uhls followed at 99. Max Ray shot 100 and Garrett Eberhardt carded 106.

Triton Central White was led by Max Crouse’s 99. Also on the scorecard were Cael Butler (101), Taggy Goul (110) and Chance Uhls (116).

 

 

IHSAA Sectionals

Greensburg Sectional

Fourteen golf programs compete Friday at the Greensburg Country Club with the top three teams advancing to the regional round of competition.

The Greensburg Sectional field includes Shelbyville, Southwestern and Waldron as well as Batesville, Columbus East, Columbus North, East Central, Greensburg, Hauser, Jac-Cen-Del, Milan, North Decatur, South Decatur and South Ripley.

Greenfield-Central Sectional

Triton Central and Morristown golfers will wait till Monday to start the postseason.

Eleven teams are assigned to the G-C Sectional at Hawk’s Tail Golf Course. They are Blue River Valley, Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central, Knightstown, Morristown, Mt. Vernon, New Castle, New Palestine, Shenandoah, Triton Central and Tri.
